The Berry Phase and Diabolic Pair Transfer in Rotating Nuclei

چکیده
A new manifestation of the Berry-Phase is presented in the theory of fast rotating superfluid nuclei: Diabolic Pair Transfer, i.e. oscillations of the pair transfer matrix elements as a function of the angular velocity, is shown to be the direct consequence the Berry-Phase, giving a non-trivial contribution a t the diabolical points of cranked Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) spectra. Considering a general Hamiltonian H(X,w, ...), which depends on more than one parameters X,o,... Berry discovered recently1), that a quantum system described as an eigenstate of this Hamiltonian, acquires a topological phase factor exp{i.d(C)>, when transported adiabatically around a path C in parameter space. This phase is of special importance in cases where the path includes a so called diabolical point, i.e. a point' in parameter space where two eigen energy surfaces E1(X,w) and E,(h,u) with the same symmetries of the Hamiltonian touch each other, as indicated schematically in Fig.1. These points are exceptional points in the sense, that they violate the no crossing rule of von Neumann and Wigner2)

The effects of isomerism and side chain mutation on binding energy and NMR/NQR tensors of L-methionylasparagine and L-asparagylmethionine
Density functional theory methods(DFT) and natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis were used to investigate the effects of isomerism and side chain mutation at a microscopic level on the stability, binding energy and NMR/NQR tensors of structural isomers, L- methionylasparagine (Met-Asn) and L- asparagylmethionine (Asn-Met) in the gas phase. The results represented that the isomerism and side chain...
متن کاملA Numerical Study of Flow and Heat Transfer Between Two Rotating Vertically Eccentric Spheres with Time- Dependent Angular Velocities
The transient motion and the heat transfer of a viscous incompressible flow contained between two vertically eccentric spheres maintained at different temperatures and rotating about a common axis with different angular velocities is numerically considered when the angular velocities are an arbitrary functions of time. The resulting flow pattern, temperature distribution, and heat transfer char...
متن کاملConvective Heat Transfer from a Heated Rotating Disk at Arbitrary Inclination Angle in Laminar Flow
In this paper, experimental data and numerical results of heat transfer from a heated rotating disk in still air are presented over a large range of inclination angles and a dimensionless correlation is developed for forced, natural and mixed convection. The measured Nusselt number over the rotating disk is compared with the numerical results. The goal of the present research is to develop a se...

Heat exchangers are widely used in power engineering and industrial applications, many techniques such as coiled tube, surface tension devices, rough surfaces, extended surfaces have been investigated to enhancethermal performance and to minimize the cost and size of the heat exchanger equipment. One of the most important techniques is tube insert. In general, tube inserts can be classified into...
متن کاملFree convective heat and mass transfer of magnetic bio-convective flow caused by a rotating cone and plate in the presence of nonlinear thermal radiation and cross diffusion
This article explores the heat and mass transfer behaviour of magnetohydrodynamic free convective flow past a permeable vertical rotating cone and a plate filled with gyrotactic microorganisms in the presence of nonlinear thermal radiation, thermo diffusion and diffusion thermo effects. We presented dual solutions for the flow over a rotating cone and a rotating flat plate cases. Similarity var...
